Fighting renewed Saturday in Tripoli city, north Lebanon, while gunfire from Syria, hit the northern Akkar district. Sounds of sporadic fighting is heard from the neighborhoods of Khan Al-Sabouni, Gold Market, Bab Al-Hadid, Al-Daftar Square, Copper Market in Tripoli, Lebanon National News Agency (NNA) reported. Tension ran high in the old markets of the city earlier today after a Syrian man was gunned down. The Lebanese army is trying to quell the violence and restore calm. Meanwhile, the northern towns of Hakar Janin, Hakar, Al-Armah and Qalth came under gunfire from the Syrian side of the borders. A volley of bullets from Syria targeted the Al-Aboudiya-Menjiz motorway and aroused panic among motorists. The border towns have been frequently by Syrian gun, mortar and missile fire since the conflict broke out in Syria in March 2011; several deadly accidents were reported.
