A total of 131 Yoyth , mostly women, celebrated their graduation in a small ceremony yesterday from the “Demand-Driven Vocational Training, Employment, and Entrepreneurship Skills Development Programme” project after they have completed the technical training in the food processing sector at the Jordan Hospitality & Tourism Education Company (JHTEC).
The project which was launched by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Jordan is implemented by Jordan Hospitality & Tourism Education Company (JHTEC) In partnership with Jordan Education for Employment (JEFE) , and funded by the Japanese government in collaboration with the World Food Programme and the National Micro-finance Bank.
The project aims to support vulnerable Jordanian young men and women from the Governorate of Zarqa, through building their vocational and soft skills in sectors where demand is very high for skilled labor such as retail sales, food processing and electrics & electronics in addition to improving employability and entrepreneurship skills of the beneficiaries.
The graduates attended several courses, which included English language, computer skills and workplace success training which will contribute to their qualification to enter the labor market in the food production field, followed by intensive training in fast food and oriental food in addition to bakery and sweets.
After completing their training, beneficiaries will choose to either be placed in jobs or to establish their own micro-businesses and receive mentorship, technical training and financial support during this period which will last for 3 months.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of Abdul Hakeem Al-Hindi, General Director of the Jordan Hotel and Tourism Education Company in the presence of Sara Ferrer Olivella, Country Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Jordan, and Ghadeer Al Khufash, the CEO of Jordan Education For Employment.
