Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, met separately with Dr. Ali Abdel Aal, Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives; Atef Tarawneh, Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representative; Dr. Mohamed Larbi Ould Khalifa, Speaker of the Algerian National People's Assembly, and Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Omer, Speaker of the Sundanese National Assembly.
She discussed ways of enhancing and activating the work of Arab parliamentary institutions to address the challenges, developments and crises being witnessed by Arab countries, in the light of regional and international developments.
During the meetings, everyone stressed the importance of unifying Arab parliament efforts by holding intensified meetings, setting strategies, communicating with people and other parliaments around the world, and unifying visions by participating in regional and global parliamentary events.
"Our Arab parliaments are responsible for preserving Arab identity, uniting the people in one nation, and fighting extremism and terrorism that brings horror, fear, intimidation and brutality. The Arab legislative and supervisory role is the key to working with governments, to establish the main values that built both Arab and Islamic civilisation,'' Dr. Al Qubaisi said.
Dr. Al Qubaisi extended an official invitation to Dr. Mohamed Larbi Ould Khalifa to visit both the UAE and FNC, while Dr. Khalifa reciprocated with an official invitation to Dr. Al Qubaisi to visit Algeria and the Algerian Parliament. The meetings were also attended by a number of FNC members.
