The UAE expressed its concern over the tragic situation in the Syrian city of Aleppo, including targeting of civilians and bombing of hospitals and other key facilities by the forces of the Syrian regime and the sectarian militias, which led to aggravating the humanitarian crisis there.
In a statement released today, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation called for rallying international efforts to end the plight of the civilians, guarantee their safety and facilitate access to humanitarian aid to help those who are caught in the midst of violence.
The Ministry said it is closely following the developments in Aleppo and efforts are being made to address the suffering caused by those developments. It also renewed the UAE’s support to any agreement that guarantees safety of the residents and their safe evacuation.
The UAE reiterated that the solution to Syrian crisis lie in the adoption of political solution, based on the Geneva I Communique and Resolution 2254, and on the need to resume peace talks within the shortest possible time.
The UAE also said it believed that the military route would never end the Syrian crisis. Instead, it would expose the country to further destruction.
