A total of SR 440 million cash donations have been collected under the National Fundraising Campaign for the Syrians by 6 p.m. on Monday, an official statement said. The campaign was ordered by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah last Monday to alleviate the suffering of Syrians reeling under the country’s oppressive regime. Saudis as well as expatriates competed with one another in extending generous donations to the fund during the five-day telethon in an expression of solidarity with the Syrians. Campaign officials said people can continue to deposit their cash donations in the NCB account (SA231 00 000 201 88 888 000 100). Interior Minister Prince Ahmed commended the tremendous public response to the king’s call to support the Syrians. He said measures have been taken to distribute the Saudi relief supplies among the Syrians. From: Arabnews
