The Kingdom and Jordan have paved the way for stronger bilateral relations during the visit of a Shoura delegation to Amman. Shoura Council Chairman Abdullah A. Al-Asheikh, who is on a four day official tour to Jordan and held talks with Prime Minister Awn Khasawneh in Amman on Monday, agreed to activate the Joint Jordanian-Saudi Committee to boost two-way relations between the two countries. During the meeting, Khasawneh commended the contributions made by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah toward maintaining peace and security in the region. During the meeting, the two parties reviewed a number of topics and issues of common concern at political and economic levels in international and regional arenas. They also discussed how best bilateral relations between Jordan and the Kingdom could be further improved in political, economic, social and cultural fields of interests. “The two countries under the guidance of the great leaders, King Abdullah and King Abdullah II, have a deep understanding to forge ahead in developing bilateral relations and maintaining peace and security in the region,” the premier said, hoping to open new areas of cooperation between the two countries. Khasawneh said relations between the two countries were historic and built on common understanding. Al-Asheikh said the Shoura Council as a consultative body makes constructive suggestions to the government on its policy making. Khasawneh also hosted a lunch in honor of the Shoura Council chairman and his accompanying delegation. The meeting was attended by Senate President Taher Masri, State Minister for Prime Ministry Affairs Klaib Fawaz and State Minister for Legal Affairs Ibrahim Al Jazi and Saudi Ambassador in Jordan Fahd Al-Zaid. Al-Asheikh also held discussions on Monday with King Abdullah II, who expressed great delight and pride in his strong ties with King Abdullah and stressed the excellent relations maintained between the two countries. The Jordanian king stressed his keenness on forging closer cooperation with the Kingdom on matters of mutual interests and on regional and Islamic issues. In his remarks, Al-Asheikh thanked the Jordanian king for his support and assistance to strengthen bilateral relations. The Shoura delegation headed by Al-Asheikh arrived in Amman on Sunday, at the invitation of Chairman of Jordan Senate Tahir Masri. The visit was to strengthen the parliamentary relations between the two countries. During Al-Asheikh\'s discussion with Masri on Monday, the latter thanked Saudi Arabia and its leadership for Saudi aid to Jordan, which contributed to enhancing stability of the Jordanian economy and implement developmental projects. He also extended an invitation to the Senate president to visit Saudi Arabia to take part in the G-20 Summit which will be held in Saudi Arabia next month. The Shoura chairman also held talks with the speaker of the House of Representatives Abdul Karim Dughmi on Monday. The talks were focused on promoting bilateral relations in all fields. During their discussions on the problems in the Middle East, the two parties also stressed the need for an early solution to the Palestinian issue.
