The Board of Directors of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme has approved, during its meeting today, the names of 1,080 citizens who are eligible for housing support, with a total value of AED670 million.
The Board’s fifth meeting in 2017, which was held at the project site of the Umm Al Qaiwain Residential Complex at the Martyrs City in Umm Al Qaiwain, was headed by Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the Board of the Programme.
Dr. Al Nuaimi stated that the announcement of the latest batch of names of those eligible for housing support is part of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to allocate 2018 as the "Year of Zayed," as the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme is part of the everlasting legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who supported citizens, cared about their living conditions, and provided the elements of a dignified life and welfare to his children, the UAE’s citizens.
He added that Sheikh Zayed had placed significant importance on the housing of UAE citizens. Therefore, the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme aims to achieve stability in the residential housing sector for local citizens and make them happy, and the wise leadership has continued Sheikh Zayed’s vision of supporting and developing the housing sector, by providing housing support to citizens and constructing residential neighbourhoods with complete facilities, he further added.
The current batch of housing support coincides with the announcement that 2018 will be the Year of Zayed and the approach of Eid Al Adha while the housing support announced by the programme was distributed between 785 loans and 295 housing grants. The type of support provided varies between 799 cases in the new building category, 70 in the residence completion category, 14 in the residence maintenance category, 77 in the residence purchasing category, 42 in the government residence category, 68 in the addition and expansion of residences category, and 9 in the addition to a residence category while paying one loan.
