According to the project, by 2030, bounced cheques cases are expected to decrease by 18.4 per cent; juvenile crimes by 42.6 per cent; information technology crimes by 36.5 per cent; thefts from cars by 18 per cent; traffic accidents by 50 per cent; run-over accidents by 25 per cent; fatal accidents by 31 per cent; serious injuries from accidents by 15 per cent; and moderate and minor injuries by 41.5 per cent.
The project was prepared by the Sharjah Police Research Centre in cooperation with over 25 government departments and civil society organisations.
Brigadier-General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, said the project will be realised by exploring anticipated problems and beefing up readiness to deal with them.
The project will use scientific and technical data which will help decision-makers make apt political, social and economic choices.
Brig-Gen Al Shamsi said: "The launch of the project comes in response to the vision of our wise leadership and the steps taken by the country to prepare for the future. We will confront and analyse challenges; constantly strive to unify efforts, and mobilise energies towards government action in a clear framework. This makes it easier for all to deal with the future."
Dr Khaled Hamad Al Hammadi, director of the Sharjah Police Research Centre, explained that the project was prepared within the framework of the "fourth generation system of government excellence".
He said that through workshops held for experts in the field of security, 58 opportunities will be identified to address 30 challenges pertaining to traffic and electronic services, civil defence, disasters and crises.
The project also includes the forecasting of negative and positive scenarios; a map of the security threats; as well as scenarios related to children, women and youth.
