Abu Dhabi - Arabstoday

A plan to traffic in 200,000 Tramadol capsules by six drug dealers was recently foiled by the Sharjah Police. The arrest of the suspects was made by Sharjah Police in co-operation with Ajman Police when one of the suspects who did not carry any identity papers was arrested in Sharjah with 50 Tramadol tablets. He was nabbed while trying to encourage young people to buy it. “When the suspect was arrested by the police he confessed that he got them from one of his friends who resides in Ajman. The arrested person led the police to the whereabouts of the person who gave him the tablets and asked him to sell it to youth. In co-operation with Ajman police and after completing all legal procedures, the house of the second suspect was raided.” On raiding the house, the suspect tried to escape arrest by jumping from the window of his flat located on the first floor of a residential building but the police aborted his plan. “On searching the house 48,000 Tramadol tablets were also found and another suspect was found hiding in the flat. After being arrested they confessed that they were led by a gang member who assigns them to promote the prohibited tablets.” Organised network The official added, “It was very clear this was a well-organised network and investigations led to the arrest of another Iranian gang member who was also trying to sell the tablets to young boys. “The arrested suspects led the police to the head of the gang who was also an Iranian national. He was also arrested with another accomplice from Comoros and they were both storing large amounts of Tramadol amounting to 120,000 capsules that they were hiding in a rented apartment.” The suspects confessed that they had smuggled the seized quantity of Tramadol and were selling it at a high price to youth with the aim of earning profit. The suspects are currently detained and will be referred to the Public Prosecution. The Director of the Sharjah Anti-narcotic department in Sharjah said that the arrest of the drug dealers is considered a harsh slap on the faces of drug dealers who have plans of controlling the youth in society by making them drug addicts. “Young people should never fall prey to the malicious plans of drug dealers whose main aim is to damage their health and make them drug addicts. That is the drug dealers’ only aim: to maximise their income regardless the number of young people they turn into drug addicts.” From:Gulftoday
