Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa
Manama - Emirates Voice

Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has won the presidency of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) for a new term until 2020, the committee announced today.
Shaikh Nasser, who is also Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, was declared winner of the presidential election with no other possible candidates presenting their votes for a presidency post by the end of the deadlines.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports general secretary Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa was also granted a seat in the BOC board of directors for being the only candidate for the VIP post, while Bahraini swimmer Omar Al Malki claimed one of the board positions after being elected chairman of the committee’s Athletes Commission recently.
There are 12 other candidates of different Olympic sports federations vying for the remaining seven seats in the BOC board, including Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa (table tennis), Shaikh Mohammed bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa (swimming) and Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa (cycling).
Other candidates are Ali Ishaqi (handball), Khalid Al Khayyat (mixed martial arts), Abdulla Al Dossary (gymnastics), Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa (tennis), Shaikh Hamad bin Rashid Al Khalifa (shooting), Numan Al Hasan (maritime sports), Saleh Faraj (fencing), Bader Nasser (athletics) and Adel Al Fayyad (golf).
Three more candidates from non-Olympic sports federations were approved for the election, namely Isa Abdulrahim (sports for all), Ahmed Al Nuaimi (bowling) and Rashid Al Zayani (motor sports).
It’s worth noting that the BOC has already announced the date for the General Assembly and the elections, which will now take place on June 13.
