Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Economic Development Department, SEDD, on Wednesday inaugurated the Souq Al Jubail Exhibition to support national enterprises in the emirate of Sharjah.
As many as 14 booths have been set up to showcase national products at the exhibition from 17th to 20th May.
After the opening ceremony, Suwaidi and some of the department's officials toured the venue and spoke to traders who had displayed their products. Suwaidi said that the Souq Al Jubail Exhibition is being held to support national projects, as a part of SEDD’s strategic objectives to focus on the national sector including commercial projects for national entrepreneurs.
"It comes within the framework of a series of exhibitions previously organised by SEDD to activate the contribution of this sector in the economic return of Sharjah. It also seeks to provide opportunities to owners of small and medium-sized enterprises, SEMs, to present their products as well as promising projects, and promote them to upgrade their commercial activities," he added.
Suwaidi stressed that SEDD works according to the wise vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who always calls for helping citizens to join the market and run their own business.
Amal Jassim Habash, Deputy Director of Commercial Affairs at SEDD, said, "We are working to empower citizens, who own SEMs, to succeed in national entrepreneurship in all sectors of the economy."
