The Supreme Constitutional Court (SCC) of Egypt on Saturday ruled that the first paragraph of article 10 of the protest law is unconstitutional.
The court also cancelled the second paragraph of the same article.
The unconstitutional paragraph authorizes the interior minister or police chief to cancel or delay a rally, or change its route if security bodies receive serious tips or evidence of threats to security and peace.
The court also cancelled the second paragraph of article 10, which gave notifiers the right to challenge a decision to cancel or delay their protest at the court of first instance, which should very quick reach a verdict.
