Abdullatif Salam, Deputy Chief of Saudi Mission to the United Nations has called on the world community to shoulder responsibilities and not to allow more bloodshed. In a speech before the current United Nations General Assembly session, focusing on the situation in Syria, Salam called for establishing a buffer zone in Syria to provide safe haven for Syrian citizens. He also called on countries and organizations still supporting the Syrian government to re-consider their policies in this regard and, instead, observe others that provide protection for the Syrian unarmed people who face the danger of genocide. He also urged the Security Council to take the necessary measures to allow it enforce military and non-military measures to preserve international peace and security.
