State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani said that His Majesty King Abdullah’s JD1 million donation to Jerusalem Awqaf Department, reflects the Hashemites’ continued support to the nation’s causes, mainly the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Momani added in the weekly program “News and Dialogue”, that was broadcast by Jordan Television and Radio Jordan early on Thursday, that the donation is part of the Hashemite approach that started with the Hashemite reconstruction work decades ago to protect the holy sites and enable the Awqaf Department to continue its role towards the holy sites.
On the economic situation, he said despite the current conditions and challenges, the government deals with these challenges through all available means, adding that the rise in tourism revenues and remittances of expatriates are important indicators that reflect improvement in economic performance.
On the reopening of the Turaibil border crossing between Jordan and Iraq, Momani said it depends on securing the international highway from the Iraqi side, noting that both Jordan and Iraq have joint economic interest in reopening the border crossing.
