An official from the Royal Oman Police (ROP) informed that the Investigations and Criminal Investigation Management in Batinah governorate arrested five suspects accused of kidnapping and the sexual assault on a woman of Asian nationality. The official said that the Sohar police station received a report from a European resident that his girlfriend was kidnapped from a hotel parking lot in Sohar. Following search and investigation, the accused were arrested and they have admitted to their crimes. Officials said three of the accused were under the influence of alcohol when they kidnapped the victim. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for trial. Burglars arrested Officers from Al Khoud police station of the recently arrested five Asian nationals who were accused of committing theft at  a house in the Al Hail area in the wilayat of Seeb. The arrests were made following complaints by a citizen that his house had been broken into and goods stolen. After  search and investigation, the burglars, who illegally entered the Sultanate, were arrested. Electronics, appliances, watches, mobile phones and other valuables were found in their house in Hail and seized by police. The five accused were referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and trial. Drug peddlar held Acting on a tip, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) arrested an Asian national involved in selling drugs in the wilayat of Mudhaibi.   Following investigations, the ROP sleuths arrested the accused, who confessed to committing the crime. ROP officers reportedly seized 64 capsules of morphine, as well as heroin capsules. The ROP has urged people to help them arrest drug traffickers by contacting officials at emergency phone 9999 or through hotline 1444. Goat thieves nabbed The Royal Oman Police has arrested three persons on charges of stealing over 30 goats from a citizen in the wilayat of Kamel wa Al Wafi. Following a search and investigation, one of the accused was arrested and later admitted to committing the crime, along with two others. Thirty-three goats were found in their possession and returned to the owner. Legal action against the accused  has been initated.   Resident cards Between March 9 and 13, the General Directorate of Civil Status issued or renewed more than 5155 identity cards, and more than 17,629 resident cards, according to officials. The Directorate has also updated its civil status website found at www.civilstatus.gov.om to provide information about official procedures required when seeking services.
