Qatar’s National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) yesterday began a campaign to raise awareness on human rights. The campaign, called the “Principles of Human Rights and Labour-Related Rights”, was launched in Ras Lafan. Fawaz Bekheit al-Jatal, a representative of the civil community in the committee, said that Qatari “renaissance in different fields like industry, trade and architecture require striking a balance between the needs of the foreign workers in the country on one side, and the quality of production on the other side”. He said that providing different means to regulate laws regarding human rights was essential to strike that balance.
