Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Adel Al-Falah inaugurated a training center for the rehabilitation of repentant convicts at the Central Prison on Tuesday. The center was launched through coordination among the ministries of interior, Awqaf and Islamic affairs, health, social affairs and labor, and education as well as the Civil Service Commission, the Manpower and Government Restructuring Program (MGRP), and the International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO). Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Al-Falah said: \"the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs spares no effort in backing any social or cultural initiative that could help the sons of Kuwait contribute to the progress and development of their homeland. \"Today we are proud of witnessing the inauguration of a new edifice for caring for penitents; this educational and training care is one of the noble social messages of the ministry through which the ministry helps people from all segments of the society, including prison inmates, become good citizens,\" he pointed out. Dr. Al-Falah noted that the center will provide vocational training to improve their computer, business and managerial skills as well as carpentry, electricity and network maintenance. \"The center will serve as business incubator and foster entrepreneurship among the trainees through close coordination among the departments sponsoring this initiative,\" he added. Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Maj.-Gen. Khaled Al-Deyain said, in a speech read on his behalf by Col. Saeed Al-Hajri that the program set for the center was part of the inter-departmental partnership. \"The prison authority works with the rehabilitation department of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to provide quality training and moral education to the prisoners,\" he affirmed
