The Permanent Population Committee (PPC), under the aegis of the General Secretariat for Development Planning (GSDP), will observe the Qatar Population Day here Thursday. The PPC commemorates October 20 in Qatar every year to focus attention on population issues in the context of holistic development plans and programmes in consonance with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Strategy 2011-2016. The Qatar Population Day is observed on October 20 since the population policy was launched on this day in 2009. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA) PPC Vice President and Director of Technical Bureau Dr Hassan Ibrahim Al Mohannadi said, \"This year the focus of discussions will be on population laws and regulations. A presentation of various aspects of population rules will be made at the conference here tomorrow.\" The PPC will submit a report, following an extensive study, covering all areas of Qatar\'s demography like growth, education and employment. The finer aspects of the population policy will be discussed later, he said. This study shows the crucial role of legislations in life and how they have become indispensable either in the form of instructions, orders, prohibitions or written law of any state or human entity for the regulation of the relation among individuals, groups, governmental and non-governmental bodies or at the level of identifying positions and duties. HE Minister of Justice Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanem and top officials will attend the conference here tomorrow to celebrate and mull Qatar\'s Population Day and issues. Discussions will centre on the priorities of the next stage and work method including the participation of heads and members of Focal Points and experts of PPC technical bureau. The Qatar Population Day is within the context of the World Population Day (observed July 11 every year) that was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989 to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues. This was an outgrowth of the interest generated by the Day of Five Billion, which was observed on July 11, 1987.
