The Supreme State Security Prosecution revealed that a number of Daesh terrorists belonging to the Wilayat Sinai group, an affiliate to Daesh, have participated in the Muslim Brotherhood armed sit-in in Rabaa el Adawiya in Cairo district of Nasr City.

The Supreme State Security Prosecution is currently investigating a case in which 292 elements of Wilayat Sinai group are facing charges of embracing Takifiri thought and carrying out attacks against police and armed forces as well as state facilities.

Investigations are held under the supervision of Attorney General of the Supreme State Security Prosecution Khaled Diaa Eldin, Attorney General Counselor Mohammad Wagih and a team of investigators.

The 292 terrorists are accused of launching several terrorist and suicide attacks mostly in North Sinai, along with plotting to assassinate President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef inside the Grand Mosque in Mecca. 

The case documents include detailed confessions of defendants on all incidents, the names of the group's members, its funding resources and some of its leaders, but no one gave any information on the identity of the group's ringleader. 

They admitted that Abu Marwan el Masri, the group recruitment official, briefed them on the military potentials of the group, while the so-called "Abu Hamza Al Sinawi" taught them the group's thought. They also confessed of receiving training on attacking security checkpoints in a camp in Okda district in Sheikh Zuweid, North Sinai. 

Confessions revealed that the defendants joined Rabaa el Adawiya armed sit-in in the wake of the June 30 revolution that was dispersed by the Egyptian police and army in August 2013.

Other incidents, carried out by the defendants, also include launching several terror attack on the headquarters of the battalion 101 of the Armed Forces, assassinating three judges in Arish, storming a hotel in Arish, where judges supervising the last parliamentary elections in North Sinai stayed killing two judges, four policemen and a citizen, assassinating director of Sinai roads and tourist groups securing department Lieutenant-Colonel Ibrahim Ahmed Badran Saleem and two policemen of his accompanying force.

Defendants also said that the group divided the participating elements into six groups, with each one assigned certain missions to be carried out against the police and army troops in North Sinai.

They also admitted that they carried out a massive attack on Abu Refai checkpoint in Sheikh Zuweid with the use of 10 four-wheeled vehicles, while the so-called Abu Abdallah el Saidi, one of the group's suicide bombers, blew up himself at the checkpoint premises. 

Other confessions also revealed the formation of Wilayat Sinai group. They mentioned Abu Marwan as the security official, Abu Zubeir Al Sinawi as the military official, Abu Anas Al Khateib as the operations official, Shady el Maniey as the media official, as well as Abu Suleiman and Abu Yacouq as the explosive materials officials along with others.
