President Bashar al-Assad performed Tuesday morning Eid Al-Fitr Prayer- marking the end of fasting month of Ramadan- at President Hafez al-Assad Mosque in Damascus. A number of Islamic men-of-religion and citizens also performed the Prayer along with His Excellency President al-Assad. Damascus Grand Mufti, Sheikh Bashir Ied al-Bari, gave a religious ceremony on this blessed occasion in which he spoke about the importance of amity and cooperation among Syrians as \' one body\' and \'one heart\'. \'The Will of God has made of Syria the cradle of civilizations and the meeting point for heavenly religions as the leader throughout time and ages,\'\' said the Grand Mufti, citing some of Syria\'s national stances in support of the oppressed, Palestinian People and the Resistance. \'Such national stances have angered the enemies of Syria, who started to hatch unjust plots, and plant on the way of Syria\'s progress seditions, lies and fabrications,\' added Sheikh Bashir Ied al-Bari, reiterating that the steadfast Syria knows the path of the right and pursue it responding to the just demands of reforms. The Grand Mufti of Damascus prayed to God as to stand by Syria against its enemies, preserve it, be merciful to its blessed martyrs, and as to stand by His Excellency President Bashar al-Assad for whatever might elevate Syria and the Syrians\' interests. Following the Prayer, President al-Assad shook hands with the crowds and exchanged congratulations on this blessed occasion with hundreds of Syrians.
