During its first meeting of the 13th regular session for the 9th legislative term held on Tuesday, the People\'s Assembly, chaired by Speaker Mahmoud al-Abrash, listened to the government work plan for the coming stage and reviewed the financial and economic situations in Syria. Members of the Assembly started the meeting by observing a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs of the homeland. Prime Minister, Adel Safar, reviewed during the meeting the government work plan for the coming stage, pointing out to the main headlines and priorities. He reviewed the government work plan regarding the foreign policy which is based on supporting resistance and confronting all pressures which aim at undermining national sovereignty and self-determination. Concerning the internal policy, the work plan focused on preserving security and safety of citizens and stressed the independence of justice. Safar pointed out that the government is working to implement the strategy of sustainable development to achieve social justice among citizens. He also pointed out to what has been achieved in combating corruption and administrative reform as well as the laws and decrees issued for public elections, parties, local administration, media, political pluralism and regulating peaceful protests. After the meeting, Speaker Mahmoud al-Abrash held a press conference on the mechanism of the People\'s Assembly for the coming stage, stressing that the Assembly is now ready to be held after its recess.
