He was launching an awareness campaign to encourage people to use the 16 'Smart' gates at the Sharjah airport. The 'Smart' gates have helped speed up the procedures, cut waiting time and eased congestion. "These gates have reduced the passenger rush during peak hours, ensuring a smooth travel experience. The facility is part of the airport's strategy which focuses on making travel easier for all passengers by providing the best internationally recognized services," said Al Midfa. Addressing mediapersons on Sunday, Al Midfa said the 'Smart' gate service should be utilized to reduce the queues at passport control counters. There are eight 'Smart' gates each at the departure and arrival points.
