A total of 80,710 traffic violations were booked by We are All Police, a community-driven police initiative, between January and November this year, official figures showed.
According to Brigadier Saif Al Mazrouie, Director, General Directorate of Traffic, Dubai Police, 28,180 violations were caught by camera, 52,280 violations were registered by military personnel and 38,163 were registered by individual volunteers.
''May has outnumbered other months, registering 9,510 violations compared to January, which registered the lowest number of violations at 5,520,'' Brigadier Al Mazrouie noted.
He explained that the initiative engages members of the community to assist the police force by reporting through the toll-free line 910 the reckless driving behaviour that could endanger public life.
He stated that the violations reported by military personnel were directly booked while those reported by members of the public would be verified by traffic police.
