The Secretary General of the Jeddah -based Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, welcomed Wednesday the announcement made on the concluding of prisoners exchange deal. At the same time, he also valued the efforts made by Hamas Movement, the Arab Republic of Egypt and all parties that contributed to the success of the deal, according to a press release issued here today. The release said that Ihsanoglu demanded the release of all Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons without condition or preference and considered the release of more than a thousand of Palestinians prisoners from Israeli jails a Palestinian success to the file of Palestinian prisoners, in addition to its impact on easing the sufferings of prisoners and their families. The Secretary General stressed that the OIC endeavors for the support of the cause of prisoners and their freedom, and supported their equitable and humanitarian demands, which are guaranteed by all international laws and conventions. He called on the UN Security Council and international human rights organizations to shoulder their responsibilities towards the issue and for their immediate intervention at the level of the Israeli Government to stop persecution of prisoners and to respond to their just demands and rights.
