President of the National Institution for Human Rights (MIHR), Said bin Mohammed Al-Faihani received here a delegation from the Riyadh-based European Union (EU) Delegation to Countries of the region, led by Senior Advisor, Alexis Konstantopoulos, and including Political Affairs Advisor, Lucia Manrique.
Al-Faihani affirmed the solid Bahrain-EU relations and coordination, noting that he is looking forward to opening up wider horizons for cooperation and coordination between the NIHR and the EU regarding everything related to developing human rights action, as well as the consolidation of human rights’ respect and preservation of human dignity.
He briefed the delegation about the human right situation in the Kingdom, reiterating the NIHR’s full support to human rights defenders.
He highlighted the NIHR’s role in communicating with the competent parties to be informed about the facts to ensure the success of the human rights, democratic and development processes in Bahrain.
Konstantopoulos thanked the NIHR for the reception, and congratulated Al-Faihani on being elected to his post, expressing the EU Delegation’s readiness to provide the NIHR with the needed support so as to promote its efforts to achieve its goals.
