The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Civil and Political Rights Committee held today its fourth regular meeting under the chairmanship of Dr. Bader Mohammed Adel. It was attended by the committee members Ahmed Mehdi Al Hadad and Wedad Radhi Al Mousawi.
The committee discussed a number of issues referred to it by the Representatives Council and decided that they need further studies to ascertain of their compatibility with national legislation and international human rights standards.
The committee also discussed mapping out a vision to issue a guide for the upcoming parliamentary and municipal elections slated to be held in 2018 in order to protect the election and candidacy right, being one of the political rights stipulated by Bahrain’s constitution.
