Egyptian parliament agreed in its joint meeting to choose MPs Mostafa Bakri, Nagi al-Shehabi and Nasr Abbas to supervise the committee concerned with the elections of the constituent assembly that will draft the constitution. Bakri has been chosen as the head of the committee. Other MPs have been divided to supervise the ballot boxes of the People’s Assembly MPs as follows: In the same context, 20 MPs are considering withdrawal from the joint meeting, as many of them expressed fears that the constituent assembly elections results might not represent all sections of society. Among those 20 MPs were Amr Hamzawy, Mostafa al-Naggar, Magdi Sabra, Atef Mekhael, and Amin Said. MP Mostafa al-Naggar pointed out that the elections may produce figures that do not represent any bodies or syndicates, which would rattle public opinion. On the other hand the Speaker of the People’s Assembly Saad al-Katatni responded that the MPs will elect public figures while bodies and institutions will elect their own representatives.
