Police services (DGSN) arrested 8,162 people for different crimes and offenses, during the period of Dec. 10-30, 2016, as part of intensive operations conducted to fight the different forms of criminality.
According to a statement by the national police body, 5,237 people were caught red-handed for criminal acts and 2,925 are wanted on violence charges, sex scandals, property damage, drug trafficking and economic and financial criminality.
These operations, which are aimed at fighting violent crimes and arresting wanted persons, involved police prefectures in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakesh, Tangiers, Fez, Meknes, Agadir, Oujda, Tetouan, Laayoune, Settat, Beni-Mellal, Errachidia, Ouarzazate, Taza, El Jadida, Dakhla, Ouazzane, Larache, Ksar El Kebir, Sidi Slimane, Souk El Arbaa, Sidi Yahya and Assilah, the same source added.
The operations resulted in the seizure of 757 knives, 707 kg of hashish, 6.763 kg of cocaine, 771 g of heroin, 37,719 psychotropic pills, as well as 85 cars, 157 motorcycles and 473 cell phones.
