More than 50,000 Palestinian refugee students yesterday began their new academic year 2017 -2018 in 96 schools operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, UNRWA, in the West Bank.
In a statement, the UNRWA said that they intend to make improvements during this academic year in the educational environment in schools in the West Bank, as well as ensuring quality in schools by strengthening monitoring activities and improving the performance appraisal process.
