His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, today discussed ways of bolstering bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Welcoming el-Sisi's two-day visit that began today, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed noted that it reflects existing vital co-operation and relations between the two countries and the interest of their leaders in continuing contacts and co-ordination to serve the interests of both countries as well as other Arab countries.
H.H. Sheikh Mohamed and el-Sisi discussed co-operation in political, economic, developmental and other vital spheres that are of common concern for the two countries to serve their mutual interests.
They discussed crises in Yemen, Libya and Syria, the level of inter-Arab co-ordination and consultation about addressing these crises facing the region, as well as the dangers of terrorism and terror organizations that threaten security, stability and development in the region and the entire world.
H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed reiterated the keen interest of the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in bolstering fraternal relations with Egypt and pushing towards broadening them to realise the interests of both countries and their people and enhance security and stability for all countries in the region.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi reiterated the UAE's support for Egypt and its people's aspiration for stability and development and that stability in Egypt means stability for the entire region due to its strategic and historic importance in the Arab world.
The current situation in this region requires inter-Arab co-operation and solidarity that can enable the Arab Nation to safeguard the security and stability of Arab states and counter existing common challenges the most important of which is the growing danger of terrorism, extremism and foreign interference that aim to undermine the security and stability of regional states, he said.
His Highness noted that the UAE s unwavering position of supporting the foundations of regional and global security and stability through involved positive co-operation with effective powers and Egypt in particular.
He further highlighted Egypt's role in supporting efforts to establish regional stability and to find permanent solutions to current crises and combat the plague of terrorism, violence and extremism that seek to undermine the security and stability of Egypt and the entire region.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed also conveyed the condolences of the UAE s leadership and people to the Egyptian people over the death of innocent people in recent terrorist attacks on places of worship. He expressed his confidence in the Egyptian people s ability to counter these cowardly acts and stand up against all evil plans to undermine the unity and unity of Egyptians.
For his part, President el-Sisi expressed his delight at visiting the UAE and highlighted that Egypt s leadership and people are proud of fraternal ties and co-operation with the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
El-Sisi further underlined the importance of continued work for developing bilateral relations at all levels, and noted that the current period poses huge challenges for all Arab states that require joint pan-Arab co-operation and efforts to strengthen pan-Arab security.
The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority (EAA); Jassem Mohammed Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Member of Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary at the Court of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince; Juma Mubarak Al Jenaibi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt, and Lt. General Isa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Deputy Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces.
