The House of Representatives has rejected during a session on Wednesday the recommendations which came in the report of an ad hoc committee on the testimony of MP Tawfik Okasha over charges against him after meeting a foreign ambassador in his house without taking a permission from the House.
The recommendations had urged preventing Okasha from attending the parliament debates until the end of the current parliamentary session.
The House decided to go ahead with measures to revoke the membership of Okasha after calls from MPs to stiffen penalty against him.
A probe by the House committee revealed that Okasha violated the constitution and laws as well as the separation of authorities principle.
The committee rapporteur, Hussein Bassioni, said Okasha tackled crucial issues with the ambassador including the Ethiopian dam, a matter which would put the security of the homeland at risk
