Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities Nohad Mashnouq said that a new president of the Lebanese republic would be elected before the end of the current year.
Commenting on the Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri's warning the failure to reach a settlement will whether lead to a constitutive assembly or a civil war, Mashnouq said: "Berri is the permanent valve of national political security, no matter what he says." Lebanon Parliament on Monday failed for the 43rd time, to elect a president to succeed Former President Michel Suleiman, whose term ended in May 2014.
