Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II, Minister of Industry Trade and Supply, Yaroub Qudah, patronized a ceremony organized by African embassies in the Kingdom celebrating Africa Day; the day on which the Organization of African Unity was (OAU) founded in 1963.
The minister said Jordan is pursuing economic openness to Africa and said the Kingdom and a host of African nations are keen on advancing ties in various domains. He added that Jordan and African nations have something in common which is their young populations.
South Africa’s ambassador to Jordan and dean of the African Group of Ambassadors in Amman, John Davies, said the African Group is keen to strengthen relations with Jordan and voiced appreciation of the Kingdom’s efforts to expand its relations with Africa.
The ambassador welcomed the establishment of the Jordanian-African Business Society, which was launched in April this year. He added that Africa has the fastest growing economies in the world, stressing that all African embassies in Amman are working to cement economic cooperation with Jordan
