Jordanian Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit on Thursday discussed with visiting Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Gamini Lakshman Peiris ways to enhance ties between Jordan and Sri Lanka in various domains especially in economy and tourism. The Sri Lankan minister said his country is keen on activating relations with Jordan in various spheres, hailing Jordan’s security and stability in a volatile region. Earlier today, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh conferred with his Sri Lankan counterpart Gamini Lakshman Peiris on means and ways of boosting bilateral ties as well as latest regional developments and the peace process. In a press statement issued after the talks, Judeh said that the two countries enjoy deep and strong relations, noting to the Sri Lankan workforce in Jordan He added that the two countries’ governments and businessmen sector should communicate to develop mutual ties and address the challenges of the region, pointing that he briefed the Sri Lankan minister on Jordan’s political, social and economic reforms. For his part, Peiris said that talks also dealt with the latest developments in his country as the Asian nation was able to halt the violence after twenty years of conflict.
