Minister of Water and Irrigation Hazim Al Nasser welcomed the water deal reached today between the Palestinians and Israelis in Jerusalem.
The US-mediated agreement came as a result of a Memorandum of Understanding that was signed by the parties concerned with implementing the Red Sea-Dead Sea Canal between Jordan, the Palestinian Authority and Israel in December, 2013 in Washington.
Under the deal, the Palestinian side will receive more that 30 million cubic meters of water annually.
Al Nasser said that the agreement will enable the Palestinians to secure additional quantities of water outside the Oslo Agreements, indicating that the West Bank and the Gaza Strip will be provided with water as of this summer until 2021.
The minister stressed that Jordan will continue its efforts on this issue to enable the Palestinians to regain their rights.
