Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, and his Algerian counterpart, Abdul Qadir Musahel, Tuesday agreed that a date will be set for a meeting of their Joint higher committee in Algiers before year’s end.
The committee, which last met in 2006, will hold expert-level encounters in Amman beforehand to identify the sectors and scopes for cooperation.
The ministers said the two countries are determined to take practical and tangible steps to further enhance the already well-established relations following the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Algeria’s President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
They also spoke about the importance of improving institutional, legal and economic ties, which would pave the way for increased cooperation between the private sector in both countries.
The ministers also discussed regional developments, including the Syrian crisis, Libya, anti-terrorism efforts and extremist ideology, as well as the Palestinian cause as the central issue in the region.
They agreed that finding a solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution and the adopted terms of reference, is the key to achieving regional peace and security.
Further, they emphasized that intensified efforts are needed in order to find peaceful solutions to crises besetting the region, underscoring the importance of increased Arab cooperation and solidarity to serve Arab causes.
