The Judicial and Legal Studies Institute (JLSI) today staged a training workshop on financial-related crimes, including money laundering and terrorism financing.
Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowment, Shaikh , attended the workshop, as well as judges, public prosecutors, officials from Interior Ministry, Central Bank oKhalid bin Ali Al Khalifaf Bahrain and control officials responsible for monitoring sectors of banking, financial market, insurance and stock exchange.
Lecturers from the JLSI and Central Bank of Bahrain talked about the concept of corruption and its link to financial crimes, the development of the use of financial markets and financial instruments used in money laundering and financing terrorism.
The training programme shed light on mechanisms for the early detection of financial crimes, means of investigation, financial report reading and analysis skills for the purpose of early detection of financial crimes. It also focused on principles of the formation of a specialized investigation team, funds tracking skills and detection of suspicious financial transactions, requirements for dealing with electronic financial crimes and the challenges of dealing with the media with regard to this type of crime.
