Iraq officially announced Sunday that its military forces had fully retaken the city of Mosul after nine months of combat with the Daesh terrorist group, and the army said about 30 terrorists were killed on the Tigris River banks.
State-run Iraqi television reported that the northern city of Mosul had now been completely liberated from terrorism after Iraqi forces drove out Daesh gangs and took over in the city.
The Iraqi army said the 30 Daesh militants were killed by Iraqi troops while attempting to flee from the right side of Mosul to the left part of the city across the Tigris after the terror group was dislodged from the old town of Mosul.
A security source told Petra’s reporter in Baghdad that security forces began lifting the dead bodies and defusing mines and car bombs left by Daesh.
Iraqi troops were celebrating after achieving victory and retaking Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city.
