The Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced Saturday that it will open the accreditation of local and foreign journalists, who will cover the mid-August municipal and governorate council elections, starting July, 1 until the first of August.
An IEC statement called on journalists to visit its website www.iec.jo to fill the forms during the one-month accreditation period, which, it said, is unextendable.
It said the commission is keen on cooperation with media outlets and that it had taken all the necessary measures to enable journalists to monitor and cover the various stages of the electoral process according with Jordanian legislation and best international practices.
