An honest taxi driver who returned Dh56,000 that a passenger left behind in his cab has been rewarded.
Pakistani driver Noor Zad Khan, who works for a taxi company operating under the umbrella of the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, found a briefcase left by a female passenger in his car.
The director of Sharjah RTA, Abdulaziz Al Jarwan, paid tribute to the integrity of the taxi driver and honoured him with a certificate of gratitude and an unspecified financial reward.
"Honouring such a good deed would encourage others to do the same, should they find forgotten items in their taxis," said Mr Al Jarwan.
The owner of the briefcase called the RTA hotline to report the lost briefcase and her money was returned.
