Senior GCC and Moroccan officials stressed the need to scale up cooperation to protect environment and make better use of alternative energies.
The GCC-Moroccan high-level meeting on environment and sustainable development kicked off in Morocco's capital, Rabat, with the participation of a number of senior officials from GCC member states and Morocco.
The two sides agreed to enhance the political and economic relations and develop a legislative framework for cooperation in the areas of environment and renewable energy, the Moroccan news agency reported.
The participants reviewed the experiences of their respective countries in curbing the environment degeneration and the climate change, he said.
The participants also called on the Arab countries to develop a common strategy for curbing the climate change.
The three-day meeting was held to review the implementation of the decisions made by GCC environment ministers during their 20th meeting in Jeddah last October.
