Secretary General of Kuwait\'s National Assembly (parliament), Allam Al-Kandari, said Friday a meeting of members of Shura Councils and parliaments in the GCC was important considering the regional and international developments. Speaking to KUNA shortly after arrival to take part in a meeting of speakers of Shura Councis and Parliaments of the six GCC countries, Al-Kandari said the meeting was being held amidst \"sensitive circumstances in the Arab region.\" The legislative councils, he said, should contain the growing calls by people for more freedoms and democracy. Al-Kandari said the lawmakers would discuss a number of issues which would be then referred to the GCC summit, due in Manama later this month. Among the issues to be discussed, he continued to say, was the UAE\'s proposal to establish a Gulf Parliament.
