The Foreign Ministry managed to released about 49 Egyptian nationals who were detained in Yemen, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Saturday.
The nationals were released after intensified contacts made by Egyptian Ambassador in Yemen Yusuf el Sharqawi who is currently working from Riyadh, Abu Zeid said.
According to the diplomat, the 49 Egyptians were held under house arrest at their residences in the Yemeni coastal province of Al-Hudaydah.
El Sharqawi is following measures adopted to help them move back to Egypt, the spokesman added, urging all Egyptian citizens in Yemen to be cautious and avoid places of battles.
