The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, yesterday provided relief aid to the people of the island of Mayyun, including various food supplies, as part of the ERC’s ongoing support for the liberated areas of Yemen, and under the overall framework of the UAE’s efforts to help the people of Yemen.
Sheikh Saleh Al Mayuni, one of the island's representatives, said that the island requires support in all areas, due to the difficult local conditions.
He praised the UAE’s efforts to rebuild local services facilities that were destroyed and looted by the Houthi-Saleh militias during their control of the island, located in the Red Sea near the strait of Bab Al Mandab.
He also highlighted the UAE’s pivotal role in liberating the island from the Houthi-Saleh militias, as well as supporting and restoring local service facilities and rescuing residents.
The island’s inhabitants expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the UAE’s leadership and people for their aid, which contributed to reducing their suffering.
