Egyptian MP Mohamed Abu Hamed on Friday announced his resignation from the Free Egyptians Party. Hamed, who headed that party\'s parliamentary delegation, said on his Facebook page: “Dear friends, I resigned from the Free Egyptians Party on Saturday evening, out of my desire to be completely free for a project that I am currently working on and will announce soon.” Hamed went on to thank his colleagues in the party for the period he worked with them, hoping them “more of success in achieving the party’s objectives”. He added: “I started my work in the People’s Assembly as an independent MP calling for Egypt to be an egalitarian civil state. A state that respects all religions and does not allow anyone to impose his religious will on others, or to claim to be the spokesperson of God. A state that allows and protects freedoms, and believes in democracy.”
