The Egyptian Embassy in Damascus is finalizing travel papers of a nine-member Egyptian family after they were taken out of the war-hit eastern Aleppo December 12.
In a statement by the embassy, Egyptian Charge d'affaires Mohamed Tharwet Selim said the embassy faces logistic and procedural problems with the families taken out from flashpoints as they lack necessary official papers.
He said the embassy is trying to convince the rest of Egyptians to leave Syria, but many of them insist on remaining there despite repeated warnings.
Some of them have been living in Syria for long years and they even own properties there, he said.
As of 2015, the embassy succeeded in sending home 95 Egyptians.
