Security officers at Cairo airport on Friday arrested a Yemeni and Egyptian on suspicion of theft from a former PA minister, Jordanian media reported. Former Interior Minister Hani al-Qawasmi was in the Cairo terminal bound for Jordan when he discovered his briefcase, containing his family's passports and other credentials, was missing, news agency Jordan Today reported. Airport officials told the news site that al-Qawasmi's son received an anonymous phone call offering to return the bag in exchange for money. Security officials lured the caller to the airport, where he was detained, Jordan Today said, identifying the suspect as Imad Ali Murshid from Yemen. An Egyptian man, Ahmad Jalal Atiyeh from Shubra city, was also detained in connection with the case, it added. Al-Qawasmi served as minister of the interior in the brief Hamas-Fatah unity government in 2007.
