Duraz residents and road users have expressed their delight at safely resuming their daily routines after the public security arrested fugitives and terrorists who entrenched in the village and blocked its access ways and impeded their social life.
The security operation on May 23 was necessitated by security exigencies and aimed to effectively restore law and order, remove roadblocks, ensure public safety and security and protect peace in the village.
Police removed the road blocks erected by the terrorists to stall road traffic and hamper the people’s vital interests. As soon as the roads were cleared, life returned to its normalcy in the village and residents went back to work and school without fear or any obstacles or problems, witnesses told Bahrain Television.
“Thanks to God, the issues caused by the outlaws who gathered in the village and installed road blocks and obstacles have been addressed. Now, normal activities are back after about 11 months,” Northern Governor Abdulhussein Al Asfoor said
The governor praised the Minister of Interior for the removal of roadblocks and obstacles, opening the roads and the restoration of normal life.
Numerous complaints had been received from the residents after terrorists prevented the residents from going about their everyday life in that area. The governor urged parents to enlighten their sons in order not to drift into acts of sabotage to undermine the public security.
The Director General of Police in the Northern Governorate, Brigadier Abdullah Al Jairan, said: “Thanks to God, things returned back to normal gradually in Duraz streets after the removal of roadblocks put by terrorist elements who set up checkpoints to terrify the village residents, prevent their free movement and undermine public safety.”
He added that tonnes of garbage materials and roadblocks were removed and the operation needed several days to be completed.
The security directorate is in constant communication with the residents to determine their security needs on the basis of community partnership which the Interior Ministry seeks to apply.
