Police denied reports about a fire breaking out at the Burj Khalifa on Saturday night. Police termed it a rumour, a \"Blackberry story\". The rumour spread like wild fire on social-networking websites with many users posting pictures of what appears like bright light on one side of Burj Khalifa. In fact, thick fog descending on Burj Khalifa at midnight was translated on social-networking websites as fire at the tallest tower in the world. Some other social-network users said they either called friends who lived near the Burj or went there to check it out, but none claimed to have seen the fire. (Gulf news)
