The Court of Cassation cleared former tourism minister Zouheir Garana of charges of profiteering and facilitating the seizure of 5 million square meters of state-owned land in Ain Sokhna.
Garana was accused of selling the land to businessmen Hesham el Hazek and Hussein el Segwany at very low prices.
Accordingly, the Giza Criminal Court sentenced Garana to five years in prison.
In the retrial of the two businessmen, they reconciled with the state and paid back the amount of money owed to the state.
